A Tragic Discovery Reiner was located lifeless with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, at their home in Los Angeles at the weekend. “How we will long for this man…” the actress posted on Instagram, accompanying a photo of them together. “Thank you, Rob and Michelle [sic], for the way you believe in true love, in fairy tales, and in laughter. Your trust in people's goodness and your love for this nation are remembered.” Legal Proceedings Unfold Reiner’s son Nick, 32, faces two counts of first-degree murder and appeared in court today. He’s being incarcerated with no bail set. Reports indicate that Reiner’s daughter Romy discovered her father deceased. “It is my belief that from this horror, positive change and understanding can emerge,” Ryan went on to write. “I don’t know, but my guess is that they would want that to be hopeful and humane, to be something that brings us all to a greater understanding of one another and to some peace.” Family Members Issue a Message Reiner’s surviving children Jake and Romy shared a statement today. “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” they said. “Losing our parents in such a horrific way is a devastation beyond comprehension. Beyond being our mom and dad, they were our dearest friends.” Hollywood Tributes Pour In Ryan’s co-star, Billy Crystal, also paid tribute to Reiner via comments shared yesterday along with names including Larry David, Martin Short and Albert Brooks. “No one matched his comic instinct, his dedication to rhythmic dialogue, or his elegant sharpening of drama,” it read. “He adored his actors. He elevated his writers. His greatest gift was freedom. If you had an idea, he listened, he brought you into the process. They always felt they were working as a team. To be in his hands as a film-maker was a privilege but that is only part of his legacy.” An Enduring Filmography When Harry Met Sally was a box office and critical triumph in 1989, earning over $93 million globally and earning Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for best original screenplay. Rob Reiner was introduced to Michele Singer Reiner whilst filming When Harry Met Sally. The pair were connected through Barry Sonnenfeld, a friend and director. Reiner’s notable filmography also included classics such as Misery, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride. The director and his wife were together in marriage for 36 years.
